At the heart of the storm stands Shi Hao, the Stone Spirit — a warrior of unbreakable will who has bled through countless battles to get to this moment. When the terrifying Ashes Soldiers break through the Heaven & Hell Demon Gateway and swarm toward him in an unstoppable tide, Shi Hao places the unconscious Huo Ling'er safely on the ground and faces the horde alone. Outnumbered and overwhelmed, he is pushed to the absolute brink — his body bleeding, his energy shattered, his mind flooding with memories of those he has loved and lost. But from the depths of despair, he breaks free. Summoning every last ounce of his power, he calls forth spiky stone ramparts to hold back the endless wave — spending himself entirely in the process. When Huo Ling'er wakes to find him broken and bloodied, she makes the most heartbreaking choice imaginable: she surrenders herself to the Ashes Prison to protect him.
